Cisco UCS Implementation In Pictures: Part 1 Nexus 5010 And 2148 Fabric Extenders
Below is a collection of photos from phase 1 of our Cisco UCS implementation. This consisted of installing Nexus 5010′s with 2148 gigabit Ethernet fabric extenders to replace a few existing switches in the datacenter. In doing so, we were able to move our existing physical (IBM 3850M2) VMware cluster to 10gE and FCOE.
Doing so allowed us to free up fiber ports on our Cisco MDS 9124 switches needed later on in the UCS blade chassis implementation. I love pictures of equipment so I figured I would share.

Do you know who makes that floor jack or what the “official” product name is? I’ve been looking for one of these but googling “floor jack” or “floor jack loader” does not produce anything useful. Thank you in advance.

Sorry for the delay. Looks like they are called “Mobile Scissor Lifts”. I have a catalog that lists them. Here is a link to their site. Might want to check elsewhere. They are expensive on that site.

According to the install guide, you’ve got your fabric extenders mounted wrong.

Mine are exactly the same way, and they’re running hot.
How are yours doing? Have you ever seen a FEX mounted flush with the cold side of the cabinet?
Frankly, I think it’s crazy to make the ports inaccessible, but it would solve the air intake problem.
